Assumption Family Questions - Write down the Argument Cores?

by jameskangsj Wed Jan 02, 2013 4:37 pm

Hello.

I am a new starter on LSAT and have a question for you.

In the logical reasoning assumption family questions, it is so much easier to solve a question when I write down the argument core on a piece of paper (P --> C.) But the problem is that this writing process is time consuming!! Should I be able to solve questions (easy ones and difficult ones) without writing down the argument core? If so, should I be picturing and forming the argument core in my head?

For now, keep writing down the core. Since you're just getting started with the LSAT, you have lots of time to allow the process to begin to feel more natural. Eventually, you'll want to have the process move to a mental one - you won't have time to write down the core on test day.

Over time (2-4 weeks) I think you'll find it more natural to internalize the process.
