Any suggestions for a decent text on general reasoning

Because I'm not a philosopher, I've never had the pleasure of taking a class like this. I appreciate logical thinking in and of itself, but I've discovered that I may benefit from additional instruction in this area. I honestly find it difficult to analyse many philosophical arguments, and this isn't due to a lack of knowledge with the topics.

I don't know if there's a formal distinction between general reasoning and critical thinking guidelines, but I think they're both useful. I simply want to be able to think more clearly.
