Advice for tough passages?

by daijob Wed Jun 10, 2015 10:18 pm

Hello,

I found there are some passages I do not fully understand what they are talking about (even though I re-read them a couple of times...)
Do you have any advice for reading those tough passages?? :(
Do we read the same way as other passages??
(Eg. PT 30 Passage 3, especially the 3rd paragraph and last paragraph...would appreciate if someone could paraphrase them. I spent a couple of hours thinking about what they are talking about but got confused even aft reading the posts here.)
Is it enough that we just understand the main idea of each paragraph or should we understand the details as well for those hard passages?

Thank you.

Hey Daijob,

Is English your first language? If so, then yes, there is no other technique to hard passages. If English isn't your first language, I always mention that it could be you simply need to brush up on your English in order to read more complex stuff faster. Outside of that, just try to get the main idea and general structure (what is each paragraph for?) on the first read, then start to understand details as you do individual questions. Good luck!
