Additional reading materials for RC

by tzyc Fri Jan 04, 2013 7:10 am

Hello,

I'd like to read additional materials for increasing score on RC (which is my weakest section).
What kind of books/materials/magazines/websites should I read for increasing understanding on RC?
Could you give me some names?
I'm currently in Japan so it may be harder to find them, but I have a kindle so I may be able to find them there...
Hopefully small passage so I can read or finish everyday.
Longer one such as books are also fine though.
And in case I cannot find or read them in Japan, could you tell me what kind of materials I should get in Japanese? :|
Thank you for your help.

Hi, there.

Unfortunately, I don't have a great answer for you. I have previously recommended such online sources as The Economist, Scientific American, or New York Times editorials ... and such books as any of the Socratic Dialogues (the origin of the Socratic method).

But honestly, I have very mixed feelings about prescribing non-LSAT reading material.

I would also suggest getting a "Law School for Dummies" book or an actual casebook (like what they read in law school) and spend your extra-reading time getting better at the reading skills/material you'll ultimately care about.

Since I've already covered this topic in another post, give this a read and let me know if it triggers follow-up questions.

I certainly don't have any Japanese-language suggestions, since I don't speak/read Japanese, but I'm assuming you were joking about that.

Good luck!
