A causes B. B causes C. Does A cause C?

This is a concept I saw addressed on a question the other day, but I cannot locate it.

I have never thought about this, but I am interested in the technical answer. I would believe that we could say that A causes C since it leads to C. And since it leads to it, that is a form of cause.

(same as A --> B --> C)

therefore, we can correctly infer:
A --> C
-C --> -A

Explanation: A causes B which causes C; therefore, A causes C.

Wrong Inferences:
C --> A (illegal reversal)
-A --> -C (illegal negation)
