:ugeek: P: Jorge was upset on his birthday.

(A): (If less than 50 people showed up to Jorge's 50th birthday party, Jorge would be upset on his birthday.)

(A): (If 50 or more people showed up to Jorge's 50th birthday party, Jorge would not be upset on his birthday.)

C: Less than 50 people must have attended Jorge's 50th birthday party.

I really don't see a difference between the two assumptions....

What a great situation from which to learn!

Upset
_______
Less than 50

Our assumption goes in this manner: Upset ---> Less than 50

Answer A: If less than 50 people showed up to Jorge's 50th birthday party, Jorge would be upset on his birthday.

This answer choice is the complete reverse. This is a logical reversal. This is going from evidence to conclusion. We want if upset ---> Less than 50.

Answer B: If 50 or more people showed up to Jorge's 50th birthday party, Jorge would not be upset on his birthday.

We can use the contrapositive of this one to say that if upset ---> Less than 50. This is the answer.
