P: Entrepreneur: Students can achieve significant savings by purchasing their textbooks used rather than new. My new website, which sells used textbooks, has become a profitable business in only 2 years.

(A): (If something is a profitable business, it provides a product or service that is valued by some people.)

C1: The entrepreneur's website is not without value to certain individuals.

C2: The entrepreneur's website provides students with a valuable product or service.

-------------------------------------

Originally, I thought the answer was C1; but, I ended up choosing C2. Why is C2 wrong?

It states that the website provides value. Or is "valuable" being used incorrectly in C2 from its meaning in the premise?

Also, what makes C1 great?

Thanks.

Hey Ptraye,

We don't know if the students are the ones getting the value. Yes, we've been told that students could get savings from purchasing stuff used, but we don't actually know if they've been purchasing from the new website. It could be that other people are buying the books (university libraries, for example, or hobbyists!). We know that someone's getting a value, or the company wouldn't be profitable. This makes conclusion two a good one.

Hope that helps!

OK, these are the types of questions I get caught up on — I’m looking at specific connections when specific details are mentioned. Then, when I see the answer/explanation is more generalized — it seems obvious.
What strategy/habit can I practice to discern narrow & broad applications?
