Richard Wright
New York, NYGMAT
- Yale University
- Columbia University (J.D.)
- Fletcher School at Tufts University
Richard has taught everything from the GMAT, LSAT, and SAT – on which he scored 780, 178, and 1580 respectively – to college interview skills and even English in Japan. He holds degrees in math from Yale, law from Columbia, and international economics from the Fletcher School at Tufts.
Richard started tutoring in high school (which was longer ago than he’d like to admit), and continued teaching while an undergrad. Since then, he’s bounced between the business world and the teaching world, putting in a few years as a management consultant, another few years as an investor at two multi-billion dollar hedge funds, a year teaching English full time in Japan, and many years teaching and tutoring part time while in graduate school.
Richard is currently co-founder at a startup in NYC, which is what he spends pretty much every waking hour doing when he isn’t teaching at Manhattan Prep. He’s a passionate rock climber and skier, a huge nerd (he’s run a number of Dungeons & Dragons games over the years), and a member of the Brooklyn-based performance art and dance party collective Treetops.
