Use of repudiate

by bethanygn Fri Sep 25, 2015 10:29 am

Did I use repudiate correctly in this sentence?

While the officer failed to uphold the Army values in her interactions with her peer, I strongly believe those actions do not repudiate her character in its entirety.

Thanks for the help.

No, sorry to say. Repudiate has two meanings "refuse to be associated with" and "deny the truth." Your example doesn't work because only a person can deny something, not "actions".
