Use of Diatribe and Anomalous

by veeudom Wed Oct 28, 2015 10:48 am

Hello!

I'm have difficulty using Diatribe and Anomalous in sentences.

Jack became diatribe towards Jill when she could not make it up the hill.
Or Jill's inability to make it up the hill cost her and Jack the competition. That is why Jack was diatribe with/towards (?) here.

She anomalously completed a four year program in two years.

Help?

Hey Veu,

Luckily, you never need to use these words in a sentence; you only need to know what they mean. Please always begin with the dictionary definitions, and pay attention to part of speech. Diatribe is a noun. You used it as an adjective. Anomalous is an adjective, but you've changed it to the adverbial form (which is a highly anomalous (BOOM!) usage).

Diatribe = an angry rant
Anomalous = deviating from normal; non-standard

The diatribe he directed at the poor cable guy was anomalous; usually he's nice to everyone.
