Unfamiliar Style or Content

by divya.1024 Thu Nov 14, 2013 10:48 pm

Hi there,

How would an approach in solving an unfamiliar style or content in text completion would be? I am finding it difficult to understand through the study guide.

Thanks,
Appreciate it!

Hey Divya,

The truth is that if you find yourself consistently confused by the language on the GRE, you need to work more on English in a way that might be separate from the GRE. Are you regularly reading books/magazines in English? When you do, do you look up all the words you don't know and ask about any phrases or idioms you don't recognize? Try to start there. If you still struggle, you might want to consider a tutor.

Again, this is assuming you really have a problem with the reading part of the GRE. Nobody understands every single thing they read, but if it's a regular problem, you might need to attack it on a fundamental level.

Good luck!
