To clarify a wording for an instruction..

by robinphilip01 Sat Jan 03, 2015 4:59 am

Hi..
"Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position."

Here the meaning of "challenge" is used in the sense - "support" or in a sense that , we have to give examples that some body else could provide to challenge our side..?

Thank you..

Hey Robin,

The latter. So let's imagine the prompt asks: "Hey, are cookies awesome?"

And let's imagine you want to say: "Yes they are."

Then at some point in this essay, you would want to say something like, "Some people might say that cookies are not awesome, because if you eat too many of them you get fat and die of heart disease. But those people are wrong! Everything is bad for you if you eat too much of it. People have died from drinking too much water! But that doesn't make water inherently bad." Etc. etc. etc.

Hope that makes sense!
