Tips for drawing Inference's in geometry?

by Videoorchard Sun Mar 08, 2015 11:57 am

Hello,

So today, I was working on geometry problem from the MGRE guide..I "tried" to solve 5 problems, but unfortunately i bombed all the 5 questions! What a way to start the geometry section :)

Although,i have noted the mistakes down, but i keep failing to recognize the "pattern" in the shapes. Basically, You know what shape you have, you know what quantity the question wants, but you have no idea how to solve for that quantity. I am super weak in drawing inferences. Could you guys give me some tips on how to approach problems in geometry and more importantly to draw inference from the shapes! :)

Thanx guys!

Hey Video,

I'm afraid I can't give advice for something this vague. But what I can say is it's purely a question of practice. Just keep doing questions and reviewing the work. You'll start to recognize patterns in the ways the shapes can be divided up, I promise!

Thanks so much for posting those! Our blog has some great pieces of advice on it, particularly in regards to more general questions such as this one.
