Hi
Can you please explain this?

That traditional forms of media—despite considerable variance in the quality of writing—tend to report on a range of issues (i) _________________ by the demands of the readership should (ii) ________________ those who believe that the demise of each media outlet signals a lamentable reduction in the scope of news reported.

Blank (i)

(A) unbounded

(B) circumscribed

(C) sensationalized

Blank (ii)

(D) discourage

(E) reassure

(F) rile up

Hey Rpriya,

The meaning of the passage is as follows:

Some people think that every time a magazine disappears, the scope of reportage suffers. But it turns out that media report on a wide range of subjects, so it's not that big a deal.

The first blank needs to be "unbounded," because if the subjects covered by the magazine were circumscribed, then losing an individual magazine would reduce the scope of reported news. The second blank is "reassure," because these people will be happy to learn this new set of facts.

Hope that helps!
