test materials

by music786 Sun Aug 18, 2013 2:58 pm

Where can I find inexpensive test materials for the GRE? I used the Manhatten prep, but am still looking for more resources. Any suggestions?

Hey Music,

If you have our books, you really shouldn't need any more books. I'm not saying that's because our books are so amazing (though I think they are); I'd say the same thing if you had any other company's books. Studying for the GRE shouldn't be that involved. If you've really been through all of our books, that's all you need. If you just want more practice questions, consider buying our 5lb book (which just has a TON of questions in it). But other than that, you shouldn't need anything else.

Good luck!

Hey Guys,

I actually wanna weigh in on this one in a bit more depth. You shouldn't need more materials than one test prep company's worth, if that makes sense. I'm not trying to say that our materials are the only good ones, or that you have to use our materials AT ALL. But I do believe that if you've been through our books in a conscientious way, you should be DONE with studying.

I mention this because we get a lot of students who become obsessed with finding tons of new material, failing to realize that the topics tested on the GRE are fairly limited, and you should be focus on techniques that are applicable across all questions. You would be better off memorizing/fully understanding 1000 questions than seeing another 2000 just once.

Assuming you have our 5lb. book, which has hundreds and hundreds of questions in it, I firmly believe you should not be buying any more books than one "set." If you are, then you aren't studying effectively, and you should focus on changing your overall approach.

Hope that helps!
