Strategies for dealing with lack of ideas

by vocho Wed Oct 22, 2014 9:24 pm

Hi,

I've done several timed practice essays with topics from the ETS website. I seem to do fine when the topic either interests me or involves something I have a certain degree of knowledge about, but when nothing comes to mind I tend struggle. Even if ideas come to me while writing, the result is often disorganized and wandering since I haven't had a chance to plan it out.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what to do in these situations? Or how to organize ideas on the go?

Hey Vocho,

Hmm. Could you give an example of a prompt where you struggle? There's always an infinite number of examples!
