raising decimals to exponents

by rachelserkez1 Sun Nov 15, 2015 5:50 pm

I am in guide 2, pg 103, example 13.
How can you raise 1.035 to the 12th power quickly?
I am wondering how this question came up because guide 2 does not teach us how to raise decimals to exponents in a timely manner.
If there is a place where raising decimals to exponents is discussed please let me know.

Hey Rachel,

You have a calculator, so you could always just type 1.035 * 1.035, then just hit enter again and again. But any GRE question that wanted you to a lot of arithmetic generally would have a trick. Did the one in the book not give an explanation?

Well, easy enough to do by calculator. There's no trick.
