question from practice test 2

x,y,z are positive numbers 3x<2y<4z indicate all statements that are true
a. x=y
b. y=z
c. y>z
d. x>z
I marked the last two options but the answer had option b marked as well can you please answer why option b is true???

The tone of that question is likely to be much stronger, rather it should be "indicate all that could be TRUE"

for the second statement, lets look

2y<4z
or y<2z
that means y is less that twice of Z, so y could be equal to Z

for the first statement,
3x<2y
x<2/3y
so x is not equal to y

Hey Guys,

GMB is a king. That's absolutely right.

Two things:

1) Be REALLY careful when you're rewriting a question. A lot of people like to save time by just paraphrasing it. Some people even attempt to recall it from memory. THIS WILL NOT WORK. Please copy any question you have word for word from the original source. Anything else is a waste of time.

2) If it turns out that this WAS copied word for word, that's evidence that whatever source it comes from is a BAD source. If you find one bad question in a source, stop using that source. There are plenty of reliable sources of questions out there, so no need to use an unreliable source.
