quartile

by 365062829 Thu Aug 01, 2013 10:43 pm

For the data:1,2,3,4,5
the first quartile is 1.5, the second quartile 3 is in none of the four quartile groups. Is that right? thx~

Hey 365,

Q2 is always the median, so Q2 is 3.

Q1 is the median of the bottom half of data excluding the median: 1.5
Q3 is the median of the top half of data excluding the median: 4.5

Hope that helps!
