It may be that most of the film footage was shown somewhere , but the documentary is designed to make audiences feel that this footage has never been seen, or that, having being seen, it was deliberately _____.

Hey Kp,

The sentence is saying that the movie lied, which is why you were fooled into picking those verbs. They're wrong, though, because the blank isn't describing the movie itself, but what the movie implied about the footage. The movie didn't imply that the footage was fake. It implied that the footage was NEW ("the footage had never been seen"). Then the blank implies that the movie EITHER tried to pretend the footage was new, or if not new...something. It wouldn't try to imply that the footage was FAKE though. Then the documentary would be using fake stuff. Instead, it would imply that the footage was super secret--that it had been censored or suppressed.
