by nareshchowdary28 Thu Oct 25, 2012 3:49 am

Hi,

x>0 and x^4 = 625

Quantity A

The greatest prime factor of 36x

Quantity B

x

Answer is C they are same

here when I calculate prime factor for 365 which 73 and > 5 is the answer but I suspect they are calculating it for 36*5 which is 5.

how can we know that it is multiplication 36*x but not the number 36x

Any idea..?

Hey Naresh,

Anytime they put a variable next to a number, it's multiplication. If they mean to do some kind of digit trick, as you interpreted, they'll say so separately. For example:

36x is a three digit number with unit digit x.

Otherwise, always assume they mean multiplication. Make sense?
