This question that posted is not correct and you even did not mention all the answer choices.

This question should be like this:""If a <= b <= c < =d <= e <= 110 and the average of a,b,c,d,e is 100. What is the least possible value of a?"

We are asked about to find the least possible value of a. And a,b,c,d,e all could be equal to 110 as it is mentioned.

To get the least value of a, we have to get the maximum value for the others.
so maximum value for each of b,c,d,e=110
sum of b, c,d,e=4*110=440

sum of a,b,c,d,e=5*100=500

so a =500-440=60

Hey GMB,

You're a champion.

And yes, Deepesh, please keep a few things in mind:

1) Type questions EXACTLY as they appear in the original source, word for word. Do not paraphrase, simplify, or prettify.

2) Please include the answer choices. Real GMAT questions have answer choices, and these answer choices often illuminate other ways of solving. People want to see them.

3) Please do not write the answer. Us folks on the forum will always be able to find the answer to a real question on our own, but when you post it, other people can't try to solve it themselves. I'll erase the answers from your original posts here. But try not to add them in the future.

Thanks!
