Powerprep II for Mac - Common Issue?

This is not exactly a MPREP GRE question, but related to practice tests generally. ETS recently launched their Mac-compatible version of Powerprep II, which is a blessing for those of us on the Apple train. Given its relative infancy as a software, however, I suppose there hasn't been enough time/troubled people complaining such as myself to work out all the kinks.

My problem: I have a bit of an older model (early 2008 MacBook Pro, running Mountain Lion) so it's a bit slow, but system requirements are met. I can install the program and launch it just fine. Everything works right up until the Test Launch screen, where you can ostensibly select which test you'd like to take and the appropriate conditions. Here, the screen is frozen. Can't select anything. Can't figure out why not.

Has anyone else had this issue, or other issues, with the ETS Powerprep II for Mac software? Any ideas? Throw computer out the window?

ETS GRE tech support: would recommend. Turns out, this issue is resolved by updating java. The more you know, future reference, etc.

Thanks for keeping us updated, S. Obviously, we don't know much about what those crazy ETS folks do, but I bet this will be helpful for lots of other people!
