Answer: It varies. Of course it does, but I can say that overall there is no program that values GRE scores above all else. The GRE is an important component of your application but not the most important. Certainly Undergraduate GPA, Essays and Recommendations are all weighed on par or more heavily than GRE score. Try your best and get help where you need it with the exam, but you should know that the score is not the be all end all of your application process. In fact, recently a Professor of Higher Education sat in on 4 major universities grad admissions review and appraised about 6 others in certain ways. She was able to write in her book Inside Graduate Admissions: that the use of the GRE score ranged wildly from school to school or program to program. So TL; DR Do the best you can on the GRE and then just put your effort into the rest of your application which counts for just as much or more.
