Word Problem Book for GRE

by kiricole03 Tue Oct 06, 2015 11:17 am

Word Problems (WP) - pg 79 (Ex. with men and women) - Before I read about the "unknown multiplier," I added the 3 and 4 and got 7. And then created a ratio with 3/7 = x/56 to figure out how many men there were. Can you do this?

Indeed. Your method works great here. That said, I'd encourage you to learn the unknown multiplier method, because it's much more generally applicable (i.e. it helps out on a lot of ratio questions where your method wouldn't work).

Good luck!
