The clue for the second blank is "Different." We need a word that goes well with this. Incompatible fits well, because if feelings were very different, they could very well be incompatible with each other. Sympathetic doesn't make sense. Different emotions COULD be sympathetic, but you wouldn't expect a bunch of random different emotions to coincidentally be sympathetic. Interminable makes no sense, because different emotions are coming every five minutes, while interminable involves taking a long time.
This now helps us get the first blank. A withdrawal makes no sense, because we know there are tons of emotions (while withdrawal would mean NO emotions). Obscuring is possible, but we've only been told the emotions different, not that they're unclear. A discontinuity (meaning "a sharp difference of characteristics between parts of something") makes the most sense, given that the word "Difference" is already in here.
