"over the past year,our late night new program has devoted increased time to national news and less time to local news and weather reports.During this period,most of the complaints received from viewers were concerned with our station's coverage of weather and local news.In addition,local business that used to advertise in our late night news programs have just cancelle their contract.Therefore,inorder to attract more viewers to our program and to avoid losing futhur advertising revenue,we should restore the time devoted to local and weather reports"




The memorandum is presenting the details regarding a late night news program.It states that increased time for national news than local news is a cause fir reducing the revenue being generated by advertisements.Generally news means providing the citizens genuine information regarding the national and local issues. Equal importance must be given to information whether it may be local or national.

Firstly,a person of a certain locality might be much interested in what is happening around him rather than the national news.So proper care must be taken such that all the issues that are happening in the locality must be given equal importance like that of national issues.For example considering the issue of seperation of states the people of particular state will show interest in the decisons and discussions on their issues .

Secondly,Weather report is also as important as the news for people.Based on the weather report there is chance of taking correct decisions for people travelling.For example consider the great storm sandy that had recent occured in America.The death rate is remarkbly less in the country because of the forecast of apt weather reports before the occurence of the storm.As a result of the weather reports the citizens of respective states had taken respective steps inorer to save themselves from the storm.Hence timely weather reports play a significant role.

Most importantly,advertisements are not so important than information provided.It is the mere duty of a television station to take genuine information in to the people and let them know the things happening around him, hence the duty has to be carried out successfully which will increase the viewers which in turn increases the popularity of show and so the increase in advertisements that generate revenue.

Finally ,the data provided by author vague.It doesn't substantiate certain questions like what is need of late night national news program?As the viewers for late night programs are less ultimately the revenue generated through advertisements decreases.Hence the decrease in time alloted to local news and weather reports may not be the reason for reduction of revenue.
