another query:

http://postimage.org/image/32f5wqhms/

the way I drew this is with QS perpendicular to PR, where QSR is a right-angled isosceles triangle and PSR is a right-angled triangle. PR is the hypo and PS is a leg, hence PR>PS. Is this right way to visualize it?

In Quant Comp, never assume!

It's true that the picture COULD be the way you describe, but it certainly doesn't have to be! Never assume a right angle!

For instance, what if PQ is 2 and QR is 2, and QS, of course, is also 2, but angle RQS is only 1 degree? Then S is practically on top of Q.

Since S could be anywhere on a radius of 2 away from Q, S could ALSO be right on top of or below P! Think of S as the point on an arm of a clock -- it can go all the way around!

This one's definitely D.

Sincerely,
Jen
