MST 5 Scoring Method

by keshav.ramaswamy Wed Jul 03, 2013 10:52 am

Hello,
I had recently taken MST 5 and obtained a score of 324(166 Q,158 V).Upon checking the answers I found that I had answered 13 questions in Quantitative section wrong.Surprisingly,my score was 166! How can this happen?
I understand that Manhattan tests are supposedly tougher than the actual GRE and the scoring is usually recalibrated-All my earlier scores had an average 5 point increase. But this test has a 12 point increase-9 in Quantitative and 3 in Verbal!
Even if this test is more difficult compared to the earlier ones, how can a 12 point increase in score be justified? I seriously feel that there is some error in the scoring/recalibration!Can I actually believe the score I have got!? Kindly help me out!

Hey Keshav,

I'm going to have our tech people check this out and make sure. In general, I trust our algorithm (we haven't had complaints in terms of how people do on the real test relative to our practice tests), but I agree that 9 wrong on the hard section is iffy for such a high score. More to come...
