Manhattan 5lbs : Arithmetic Q15

by xerocoool Tue Aug 26, 2014 10:24 pm

Hi Tommy,

In the following question,

They have given a table -

Child (ages 5 - 28) $7 (weekday) || $9 (weekend | holiday)
Adult (ages 19 - 64) $14 (weekday) || $16 (weekend | holiday)
Senior (ages 65+) $8 (weekday) || $10 (weekend | holiday)
*children under 5 attend free

Mr and Mrs Gonzales, ages 42 and 39, wish to visit the National History Museum with their three children (ages 4,6,10) and Mr Gonazales's 69 year old father

Quantity A
Cost of admission for the group on a weekday

Quantity B
cost of admission for the group on a weekend after applying a coupon offering $10 off the total purchase

The answer given is (C) ..must be (B) right ?

Col A : weekday
$14 + $ 14 + $8 + (1 Free = $0) + $ 7 + $7 = $50

Col B: weekend
$16 + $16 + $10 + $0 + $9 + $9 = $60
applying $10 discount coupon = $6 => $54
(B) greater.

Something wrong in the above method ?

Thanks
