high score in GRE but the number of right answers are less

Hi,

Please clarify how the final marks are alloted? I got 161 in Quant and 149 in verbal but actually my score is 159 in Quant and 143 in verbal if we count according to number of correct questions..Which is the right score ? I am confused...please help me and reply asap..Thanks in advance

Hey Swap,

It's incredibly complicated and confusing...so no. I can't explain it to you. Neither can (or will) ETS. Just accept that it's super complicated. Anyway, it doesn't matter at all in terms of what you do. The questions are equally weighted within each section so just do the best you can on every single one and don't worry about the algorithm that determines your score.

That is sort of incredible and amazing. I observed the same thing when I finished my practice test yesterday. I am still baffled. But if it is certain to work in one's favour, then it is fine. If otherwise, then it will not be fair
