A town's population rose 40% from 2006 to 2007. The 2007 population was 10,080.
Quantity A
The 2006 Population
Quantity B
7,000
I am unsure how to solve this problem and figure out that Quantity A is bigger.
Any advice for me? Thank you so much! :)

let x represent 2006 population. If 2007 population is as a result of 40% increment in 2006 population, then it means 2007 population is 140% of 2006 population. now lets set an equation
X*(140/100)= 10080
X=7200. Hence 2006 population is 7200
The answer shows that Quantity A is bigger than Quantity B
hope that helps?
