Guide 8, Ch. 5, pg. 145: As well as

there seems to be an example missing from this idiom. The text says "as well as" means "and" but can also be used to mention one thing as a way to contrast with or emphasize another. However, it does not provide an example.

Please explain this second use of "as well as" and support it with an example. Thank you!

Hey Cstai,

The book doesn't actually provide examples for every use of every idiom: otherwise the thing would be another 100 pages!

You can use the phrase "as well as" in this way:

I like chicken as well as fish, but I prefer beef to both.
