Foundation of Math: Factorization Question

by Student_100 Fri Jul 24, 2015 6:11 pm

May I please ask:

What is the Factorization of 90?
It wasn't clear to me from the video.

If I am not mistaken, it seemed that the instructor indicated:
Prime Factors of 90: 2 x 3 x 3 x 5.
Factorization of 90: 1,6,9,10,15,18,45,90.

However, I thought it would be:
Factorization of 90: 1,2,3,5,6,9,10,15,18,30,45,90.

Thank you.

As far as I know, the GRE will not use the term factorization. It's meaning is "to break a number down into factors that multiply back to the original number." This would imply that their are MULTIPLE factorizations for any given number.

That said, the PRIME factorization would always be the one that matters (for GRE math), which means the "factorization" of 90 would always be: 2, 3, 3, 5.
