Doubt in percentage based problem

by xerocoool Mon Sep 01, 2014 10:49 am

Hi Tommy,

Q)

Quantity A :
Change in price of a pair of shoes marked down by 50%

Quantity B:
change in price of pair of boots marked down by 30%

Ans is "D"

Doubt 1: Since they have used the words "shoes" and "boots'" - do we have to consider separate values for both ? (separate values to prove "D")

Doubt 2: What if both were shoes (the same plugin value will be applicable to both the cases right ?)

Doubt 3: Is there any specific set of smart numbers to test for percentage based QC's (to prove "D"). Like the one's (+1,-1,100,-100,0.5,-0.5 etc.) used in various other types of problems.

Thanks

Xero,

1: We know they are two different things, and we have no idea what their basis price is.

2: Nope. Only if they somehow made it clear it was the SAME pair of shoes.

3: 100 is often solid for percentages, but occasionally other numbers are more useful. (In this case, obviously, if you set the same value for both the boots and the shoes, you wouldn't understand that the answer is D).
