One-third less than 25% of 180 is equal to
Why dosen't One-third mean that we have to subtract by 1/3? If its possible can you give an example of a question which can help me to differentiate b/w when to subract by 1/3 & when to subtract by 1/3rd of something.

One-third OF something = 1/3 * x
Remember, "of" always means multiply
One third less than something = x - (1/3x) = 2/3x
So we take 25% of 180 = 45
Then we take 2/3 * 45 = 30
Just as you said!
