8. In the following correctly worked addition sum, A,B,C and D represent different digits, and all the digits in the sum are different. What is the sum of A,B,C and D?

A. 23
B. 22
C. 18
D. 16
E. 14

Hey 123aster,
Well, immediately we know that D = 1, because two two digit numbers can't get above 199.

This means that we're adding up to 143.

Now let's just try stuff

50 + 93 (not allowed cuz repeat 3)
51 + 92 (not allowed because repeat of 1)
52 + 91 (not allowed because repeat of 1)
53 + 90 (repeat 3)
54 + 89 (repeat 4)
55 + 88 (repeat 5, 8)
56 + 87 (IT WORKS!)

So our A B C D are 6 + 7 + 8 + 1 = 22
