can I complete the practice exam at my own pace?

by nadia.rasul Tue Aug 14, 2012 10:15 pm

When taking an MST exam, can I do different sections at different times or do I have to complete the full exam in one go once I start it?

Hi Nadia,

When you start an exam, you have the option to choose a custom delivery that only includes some of the exam sections (e.g., math only, math and essays only, verbal only, etc.). Once you have chosen your delivery, the exam is generated and is locked in with whatever option you chose (you can pick a new delivery upon starting a new exam).

Once you start taking an exam it can be paused and resumed at any time. That said, we do recommend that you take the test in one sitting to accurately mimic the conditions you will experience on the real GRE. I hope this is helpful. Please let us know if you have any other questions about our exams.

Best Regards,

Yeah, definitely do not take breaks. Your score will not reflect your "real" score if you give yourself breaks, plus you've just robbed yourself of the opportunity to take a real practice test. If you don't have the time to take a full test, use questions from the GRE book or our strategy guides. Only use the full-length tests when you've got the time to simulate a real GRE.
