can anyone please breakdown the sense of this sentence?

by hasibul.alam Fri Feb 05, 2016 12:22 pm

for an artist of such circumscribed talent, mario was given scrupulous attention, many connoisseurs poring over works that warranted nothing more than a cursory glance

What is this sentence from? It is incorrect. Circumscribed can't mean that. The sentence works fine if circumscribed is replaced with "meager." In that case, the sentence would be saying that the guy wasn't talented, but people looked at his work really seriously anyway.

If it's ours, let me know where it's from so I can have it fixed.

It does not. This sentence is wrong. Trust me. I'm a writer. This is what I do for a living. The word "circumscribed" implies that somebody DID the circumscribing. If someone is untalented, you don't say their talent is circumscribed.
