Algebra practice 4th edition book 1 pg 154

by dmwojo83 Sun Nov 15, 2015 10:23 pm

HI,

I am hoping someone can help me understand the concept behind question #9 on page 154 of book 1. The question states that the included graph shows function f(x), and asks what integer value of x in the interval shown does f(x)=x+1. Is this to be interpreted as Y=MX+B? Also, how are the values in the chart on page 158 of the answer calculated? And, how is the answer recognized from the graph?

Thanks!

Hey Dm,

The x is simply the x coordinate, the result of the function is the y coordinate. In other words, if I say f(x) = x + 2, it means when the x coordinate is 2, the y coordinate is 4, etc. Let me know if that makes sense.
