by yamchunhim Wed Oct 28, 2015 8:30 pm

As the title stated, I am confounded what's the difference and usage of AGGREGATE vs. AMALGAMATE vs. CONGREGATE ?

They all seems to have very similar meanings.

The only real difference I can see is that aggregate and amalgamate are both transitive, while congregate is intransitive.

Aggregate is to bring together or collect into a mass while congregate is transitive that is collecting into an assembly or to gather together. Amalgamate is combining to form one organization.

Just to be clear, she is wrong. Congregate is INtransitive. :)
