5lb book, chap 17 , no 32

by anik1989 Wed Feb 25, 2015 3:44 am

ans explantion

First, assign variables:

S = number of square feet devoted to soy
C = number of square feet devoted to corn

…and set up the equation:

[(12)100 + (6)(S - 100)] + [(10)(3)(C)] = 13,080

HERE, THEY SAY , S= number of square feet devoted to soy
BUT THEY DO (S-100)6. CAN "number of square feet devoted to soy" BE POUND????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Anik,

Again, not a typo (I'm changing your title). Again, please no caps. And again, I need you to write in a grammatical fashion, because I can't actually understand your question here.

The question itself already says that each square foot is equal to one pound, so the left half of the equation is simply translating each foot into a pound of soy right away. The right half of the equation, you'll notice, has to multiply by 3, because we get three pounds per square foot for corn. Does that answer your question?
