4th Edition Algebra Guide, Ch. 5 #17

by meaganearthur Tue Sep 08, 2015 9:18 pm

In the problem set for chapter 5 of the Algebra guide, (4th edition) I'm confused about question number 17. The question wants you to find A(26) and A(34) for the formula A(n)=2n-1. The answer says that the units digit of both A(26) and A(34) are the same (and that they are both 3). However, when calculating I get A(26)=51 and A(34)=67. I understand that in theory, they are 8 apart so they should have the same units digit. What am I missing, and how can I find the units digits to both be 3?

Hey Meagan,

Yeah, this one is on our errata page in your student center. It should read 2^n, not 2n. Sorry!
