A Bit of Grad School Related Fun
Here at Manhattan GRE, we receive a lot of Grad School jokes, most of which are fairly lackluster. However, we recently came across this LCD Soundsystem parody video, Grad School, I Love You (But You’re Bringing Me Down). Something about this video drew us in, so we decided to share it with you.
There are a lot of great elements to this video. While the singer can’t quite hit the high notes, the puppetry is really fun to watch, and I love the source song. Most of all, I think the reason this video spoke to so many of us in the office is that the lyrics are quite clever (despite some of the biology lab jokes going completely over my head).
This video takes a playful look at a few of the complexities of grad school. The parody skewers grad school’s extreme workload, a neophyte grad student quailing at newfound academic challenges, and the financial burden that higher education can present. (Also, the song uses the word non potable, which is a good GRE vocabulary word!)
It’s true, grad school can be tough. In the end, though, grad students love what they are studying and strive to overcome all of the stress and excel in their fields. So check out this video for a nice laugh on your next study break.
