Will tube fit inside the box?

by Bhatia.sanjay01 Sun Mar 22, 2009 10:45 pm

A closed cardboard box is to be designed for packing the cylindrical tube shown above. Will the entire tube fit inside the box?

(1) The empty box contains 3 cubic feet.

(2) The total surface area of the box is 14 square feet.

a. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked.

b. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked.

c. BOTH statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are sufficient to answer the question asked; but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.

d. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient to answer the question asked.

e. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient to answer the question asked, and additional data specific to the problem are needed.

hi -

without some rendering of the cylinder (whether that be a verbal description or an image file), we can't answer this question.

please post details about, or a picture of, the cylinder.

thanks.
