could you pls help me with this SC
Jean-Jacques Rousseau contended that man is good only when in "the state of nature" but is corrupted by society,that compels man to compare himself to others.

I'm really confused between option A and E. I know 'which' is used when talking about something specific and 'That' is used in general terms, So in this context we are talking about a society that not specific but a general one, so i guess which should make more sense. Also does the comma before that in the first option make it the wrong option??? why is it so??
