Which of the following inequalities has a solution set that, when graphed on the number line, is a single line segment of finite length?

1) x^4 > 1

2) x^3 < 27

3) x^2 > 16

4) 2 < |x| < 5

5) 2 < 3x + 4 < 6

what exactly is this question trying to test?

from (4) we get two x values. 2 < x < 5; -2 > x >-5

right?

if you have any remaining questions, post them on that thread, not this one.

and, ashish.jere, please start obeying the forum rules. you need to title threads according to the first few words of the question.

this is easy: when you type the question, just copy and paste the first few words into the "title" field.

in other words, please STOP titling threads with such generic titles as "Inequality". these titles are useless and will make threads effectively impossible to find in a search.

i have changed the titles of a few of your threads for you, but please start obeying this rule.
thank you.

(yes, you are not the only poster who does this, but i've noticed it on a large number of your threads)
