Where Do I Start?

I am looking for some thoughts and advice...I am trying to tackle this GMAT Exam but after 1 class, have become very frustrated. I took the practice and scored 420-I think I got 400 for writing my name-:) Anyhow, I have been out of High School for 20 years, and I remember learning the math (which was in 7th and 8th grade) but I am extremely rusty-I don't remember anything. The study guides are good but I feel a lot of info is thrown out with no mention to any strategy to how tackle them. What advice would you give a student that needs to score at least 650? Thanks so much...
