What should I study?

by titotcl_999 Wed Jul 27, 2011 5:12 pm

Hi I need some advice in what should I study in order to improve my GMAT score:
English is my second language.
Toefl ibt = 85
I need a 500 with 50 percentile in both Verbal and Quant.

5 months of study:
Gmat prep(first attempt) 200
Actual GMAT 17 31 410
800score 34 29 530
800score 28 32 510
Actual GMAT 18 36 460
800score 18 30 400
ManhattanGMAT 27 36 530
GMAT prep 18 30 400
Actual GMAT 17 33 430

My weaknesses are vocabulary, grammar and Speed. Sometimes I think I got the CR and RC problems right but it's an entirely different story.
I have been studying grammar and RC strategies to improve the Verbal part but it has not move at all.

I already took a course twice(Veritas Prep). I'm just don't making any progress.
Now that I did not enter to the MBA that starts on August 8 2011, I have more time to study.

I need a reinvention on my study schedule and strategies . What do you guys recommend?

We'd be happy to help. We need some more detail from you.

Use the below article to analyze your most recent MGMAT CAT:

Then come back here and share your analysis with us. Note: share your analysis, not just the raw data - we want to know what you think the data means. You need to be able to do this kind of analysis yourself (but we'll help you learn how - so we'll tell you whether we agree with your analysis!).

Next, can you also tell me whether you showed verbal first or quant first in your test results above? (Or, if you sometimes showed one first and sometimes the other, then tell us for each one which one is quant and which is verbal.)

Finally, what materials do you currently have available for study? In particular, what do you have for the verbal section - RC, SC, and CR? You may be interested in using our new Foundations of Verbal book - it's specifically designed for English-as-a-second-language speakers.
