What's the best strategy for using MGMAT study guide

by mozart611 Mon Dec 14, 2009 1:15 am

Hi,

I'm currently using MGMAT study guide, with a twist. I do OG prblms after reading the corresponding chapter, instead of reading the whole book and then doing the corresponding prblms in OG. I figure it helps solidify my understanding to do OG prblms after reading a chapter. Any thots on this?

Thanks

This is exactly what I tell my students to do, so I like it. :)

I don't recommend doing ALL of the OG problems after reading that chapter though. Do some. Then, after finishing the book, do a random mix of different topics from that book (so that you can start to get used to identifying for yourself what's being tested). But still don't do them all yet. Save some for after you have done 2 or 3 books, and then again do a mix of different topics from multiple books. And finally save some for after you've done ALL of the books.

Part of the issue is that the real test is never going to say: here's a Number Properties Divisibility problem! You have to figure that out for yourself, and all of the questions are going to be randomly mixed - so just don't forget that you have to develop that skill too.
